This week we began learning about ecology and talking about biomes, ecosystems, and habitats. We also analyzed food chains vs food webs in different ecosystems and how they are affected by the energy that is passed through animals. This week, the concepts learned will easily be incorporated into my classroom. I believe that ecosystems and the works of the food chain are easy concepts to introduce and provide a base of knowledge on. Luckily, ecosystems have a lot of different science-learning resources such as videos, sensory models, and pictures. There are also a lot of activities that could surround the topics of animals and their predator/prey to piece together what a food chain means. This week we also got to check in on our fast plants, this is an activity I would also like to complete in my own classroom to observe the life cycle process of a plant. My remaining question after this week is how to utilize other lab activities when it comes to ecology without having to leave the classroom.
