THE CHARACTERISTICS OF LIVING THINGS
This week in Elementary Science Methods, we learned about the characteristics of living things. We discussed the 8 characteristics, examples, and even created an anchor chart. Doing so, it allowed us to review these concepts in a manner that effectively reaches the NGSS.
With these life science concepts, I was able to reflect on my prior knowledge and review. It was extremely easy to reevaluate and discuss terms such as reproduction and homeostasis on an elementary curricular level.
When thinking about how to apply these concepts in a future classroom, I found that our lab gave many resources that we can incorporate in the future. We watched videos on the life cycle and were able to discuss the characteristics out loud which can be included in our future classrooms in the same or similar manner.

Hi
ReplyDeleteI just want to start off by saying what an organized and well-put-together blog you have. I also agree that having videos and discussions can be great resources, I also mentioned that in my blog post.
- Keep up the great work!
Hi Amanda!
ReplyDeleteI love the layout of your blog, it made it very easy to access your post and looks very professional. I liked how you thought about applying the activities that we did in lab to your future classroom, this is definitely a great resource. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Amanda! The diagram drawn above would be such a good piece of material to post around your classroom while teaching a lesson on this concept! This type of anchor chart could help your students in so many ways when visually referring back for information on the characteristics of living things if they had any questions. I personally loved having these types of charts posted around the classrooms I learned in at a younger age to look back on when I was unsure about a certain scientific concept!
ReplyDelete- Love your insight!
