GENETICS & BABY LAB (WEEK 7)

This week we focused on genetics and how genes transfer from parents to children to determine what they look like based on the genetic makeup of both of the parents. In the beginning, it was difficult to understand how to teach these concepts to young children but after doing the baby lab, I found that doing activities similar to the partner lab can be extremely beneficial. Being able to see the effects of dominant and recessive genes visually is a perfect way to target those concepts. So, in the future, I plan to continue doing activities to enhance comprehension in my classroom and allow students to work together to combine thinking and communication skills.
